Brett Smith
Biography

 
  Brett Smith is an outstanding presenter who in 1999 was named Minnesota Teacher of the Year and went on to be named one of the four National finalists in 2000.  He brings many diverse life experiences to his teaching and presentations including: 23 years of teaching experience at each grade K-12 in urban and rural settings; past President of the Minnesota Music Educators Association; a National Consultant to PBS in their web-site development, Brett has written lesson plans for the Ken Burns Jazz Series and Continental Harmony web sites; member of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Content Validation Panel; drummer with the Century Jazz Band; singer on the Zephyr dinner train in Stillwater, Minnesota; a candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives; a competitive sailboat racer.  As an elementary music teacher, he currently sees up to 675 students a week, conducts two grade-level choirs, a World Music Ensemble, and writes and produces yearly grade level programs.
