Letter to the Editor As a White Bear resident who owns commercial property and retail businesses in the area, I know how important it is to elect policymakers who are responsive to the needs of the business and industry community. The health and well being of our region depends on the health and well being of our businesses. Brett Smith understands this connection, which is why I plan to vote for him as our representative for District 53B. Brett has a balanced view of taxing and spending, he has no hidden agendas, and he understands our need for a well prepared workforce of tomorrow. Brett is a common sense guy who truly listens to people. He is a good communicator with an impressive work ethic. Brett has been a local, state and national leader in the education community for several years. He has a thorough understanding of school finance issues and knows what it takes to live within a budget. He will draw on that practical knowledge to address our current state financial problems. As a community member who works with kids everyday, Brett understands that livable communities are sustained by balancing fiscal responsibility with providing necessary support for our children and our families. I believe Brett is the candidate best qualified to help us keep government spending in check while still maintaining the strength and vitality of the White Bear Lake area. I urge my fellow community members and business owners to join me in voting for Brett Smith on November 5th. It is an investment in our future.
